Ram won't fit!

And if you rotate the cpu cooler 90 or 180 degrees? With the logo on the opposite of the RAM slots because that's the way it's usually mounted. Maybe you can rotate the ring without removing the complete cpu cooler.

4 sticks is hard to run with XMP/DOCP on Ryzen.

So long as there is enough vertical clearance: you could try removing the coolers plastic shroud (the bit with AMD written on it, think it comes off with a twist), installing the ram and then reinstalling the plastic scroud. Or you could temporaily unscrew the fan (just the fan, not the heatsink).

If there isn't enough vertical clearance, you'll need to unscrew the fan (just the fan, not the heatsink) and rotate it before reinstalling.

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

He/Him - I'm a PhD student working in the fields of reinforcement learning and traffic control. how do i take it off though? ive undone the 4 screws but now what?

Sometimes the cooler is stuck on the cpu because of the cooling paste. Turn on the pc for a while and let the cpu heat up a bit. Turn the system off, get the wallplug out and try to rotate the cooler a bit on the cpu. Very carefull you don't pull the cpu from the socket.

 

You can't rotate or take of the ring with the AMD logo?

in your photo it doesn't look like it...

 

but however,  you just need to rotate the cooler into the correct position (so 180 degrees in this case)  🙂
