Hello,

Most likely getting a 4070 TI for my new build. I've asked my friend which model he thought was best for the 4070 TI, he mentioned Palit, PNY and MSI. Palit/PNY are also the only ones who Nvidia trusts with making their Quadro (workstation cards).

I wasn't really keen on getting the 4070 TI MSI Gaming Trio X since I saw a lot of complaints about coil whine on that model. What's everyone's opinion here about the best model for the 4070 TI? I'm thinking on getting the Palit Gamerock 4070TI, but I'm open to hear what others have to say about their opinion / feedback.

Have a nice day 🙂

the palit gamerock is quite a good card and has been in the model lineup since at least the 20 or 30 series afaik. It's a good model

but you do also have the PNY XLR8 which is a good one too. IMO it looks better. But both are good choices

I am personally siding towards Asus TUF or Strix cards. If those are not available get the cheapest card you can find. You gonna get coil whine whatever card you chose.

Coil whine is like standard a feature at this point. As far as performance goes, Strix cards offer the highest TDP in their VBIOS so that always results in more performance (and since the GPUs they use are also binned, they overclock further). TUF cards usually offer higher TDP than most cards but their GPUs arent the best overclockers, so they are the center point between shit (Asus Dual cards) and gold imo.

There's 2 Strix cards here,

One priced at 999 euro's, the RTX 4070 Ti-12G-GAMING

The other priced at 1019 euro's, the RTX 4070 TI-12OG-Gaming

I'm assuming the O is for overclocking, worth paying 20 euro's more for? I don't really plan on overclocking.

If you are not overclocking, check how much cheaper is the TUF card. Strix cards dont really make sense if you are just going to use them as is.

TUF is 889 euro’s here, reviews are nice but there’s complaints about it using DisplayPort 1.4 instead of 2.0, is this just a 4070ti thing? I’m not familiar with the displayports since the last card I used was a GTX 960M on my laptop lol

I believe DP1.4 can run 4K at 120Hz, so unless you want to push beyond 120Hz@4K where a 2.0 will be needed, a 1.4 is perfectly fine! (1.4 might even be able to do 4K@144Hz though im not entirely sure, if it can, change values mentioned to 144)
