Nvme ssd not shown as a boot option even with windows installed

Installing windows 11 on nvme drive using usb windows 11 media creation tool. After installing windows 11 on the ssd and going into bios to change boot order the ssd is not shown as an option(or windows boot manager with the ssd). The bios is in uefi mode and the ssd has GPT partitions as it needs to be for win 11. 
450i aorus pro Wi-Fi motherboard
Crucial p3, gen 3 ,nvme ssd 1tb

Does anyone have a fix ?  Thanks
