Mac or pc

its not like that, if a mac cause a problem i can just throw it in service centre, and same goes for prebuilt

but for pc i will have to find out that part which is causing the problem so i can send it to service centre

It isn't really that difficult to work out what parts are faulty, motherboards give error message, your cpu has graphics so you can test the GPU by removing it, PSUs come with testers, ect...

And if you ever couldn't figure it out, you can always send more than 1 part back claiming they are broken.

You can.

i believe in you. It’s no that difficult, trust me.

Super light and portable laptops I have never really understood, I carry around a heavy af gaming laptop for work and never really think about its weight.

I used to have a 2kg laptop and hated it. I also hate carrying my 14" MBP instead of my 14" Gram. I personally carry about weight and like devices that can last 6h+ on battery since when I go out, I do spend quite some time away from wall outlets.

Theyre good for battery life and thats about it, a windows laptop can have good battery life too with proper tuning

The premium ones that are as expensive as Macs can, sure.

You're assuming way too much that everyone's use cases are the same as yours.

Wouldn't a mac be somewhat useless for said "hardcore things"?

Anyhow, if you already have a laptop that's good enough for college, there's not much point in getting a Mac IMO, unless you want a single device for everything.

I know this thread is marked resolved, but I build and run a handful of servers and desktops, both Windows and Linux, and rarely have an issue. Desktop hardware is rock solid unless you're buying something extreme or really really exotic--looking at you Asus AM5 motherboard that needs a bios reset every couple of months that I stupidly dropped $1k on and the current AMD + NVIDIA dual GPU set up I put on it.

If stability is a priority, buy previous generation mainstream platform that has the most popular motherboard and RAM, then spec your GPU to match.

That all being said, I switched my entire mobile ecosystem to Apple. This is because, admittedly anecdotally and a couple years ago, every windows premium gaming laptop I bought had poor mechanical design, filled with buggy bloatware, or both. I've seen the wonkiest behavior out of windows on laptops, laptops motherboard firmware, power management--you name it. It resulted in me switching hardware once a year for phone and laptop.

Like them or hate them, Apple products have served me well in the past two years since I switched from all Windows + Android to full apple for mobile electronics. Their tighter ecosystem, while extremely stupid and limiting, has better integration. Something that Windows and Linux will always struggle with as they are not integrated vertically as apple is.

thanks for your opinion and everyones  opinion as well i got a lot of learning by starting this thread, from manually fixing your devices to which device to choose what work you wanna do it cleared all my doubts i had in my mind

yeh i agree , whenever i see towards laptops and mobile , i realize how reliable apple can be in that department even though i preferably never gonna buy their expensive new lauched phones and mac pros, but second hand iphones, mac airs and their gen ipads always seemed a good deal to go with

but rn i have a potato laptop that will serve me well in my college yrs as they will mainly give us light stuff

every hardcore thing will directly go towards my pc

yep the problem i had was to how to troubleshoot the problem after building it and most of problem got solved after learning about , those error leds and qr code scanner,

you're really just looking for someone giving you the go ahead to buy a "Mac" aren't you...? Doesn't seem like a "PC" is what you're looking for at all. So weird tbh.

So how was this "solved" now?

you just wanted to know the difference between PC and "Mac"?

it's mainly the operating system tbh, because both are "PCs". 🙂

i will not force you to believe me

but tbh the decision of building a pc is me myself alone as everyone in my fam wanted me to buy laptop this and that

and i took the responsibility of taking care of everything

and i dont wanted even a slightest of problem which was impractical ,  i dont earn myself so if i ever fell into some kind of trouble regarding this

i will be scolded like "I told you to buy laptop, now see how you gonna fix it"

i dont think you will understand this but whatever

thanks for your concerns

that makes more sense... i believe you... and i think its better you buy a "laptop" then, but it seems the issue is resolved already anyways,  so good luck! 👍
