MSI B550M RAM - Add 16GB 3000MHz or Replace with 32GB 3200/3400 MHz?

Hey guys,

 

facing a bit of a dilemma.

During the pandemic I picked up a mostly bare bones pre-built since it was the only option to get a RTX3080 at a normal price.

The pre-built came with non-descript 2x8GB 3000 MHz RAM.

 

I'm noticing I'm a bit limited by those 16GB of RAM at this point so would like to upgrade to 32GB.

The question is, with a MSI B550M, 5600X and a 3080, would you recommend I add another 2x8GB 3000MHz RAM or just replace the non-descript RAM with 2x16GB 3200MHz / 3400MHz.

 

Should the answer be to replace it, if someone could shed some light on the different timings and what to look for in RAM or a general good value 32GB kit, I would massively appreciate it!

I.e. Is C14/16 3200MHz better than C18 3400MHz?

I'd say replace the non descript ram since quad channel isn't always that reliable

Just need to point out that four sticks in a consumer system does not equal quad channel. It's generally still dual channel, simply with two sticks per channel.

Belgium but Germany is close enough, almost everything available there ships here.

These are better modules IMO and they're in belgium Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16) - PCPartPicker

Corsair Vengeance LPX E3200C16 don't work well with Ryzen. https://be.pcpartpicker.com/product/kXbkcf/gskill-ripjaws-v-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-f4-3200c16d-32gvk is a better option and proven stable on Ryzen.
