Hello 🙂

I have this PC running Windows 11 pro* and most recent updates for every installed apps.

It is configured for not going to sleep ever (only the display turns off after 1h).

CPU: i5 9600K

MB: Asus Z390-A (latest BIOS v.2004)

(GPU: Rx590 using HDMI)

SSD: 250GB Samsung 750 evo (sATA 2.5'')

RAM: 2x8GB DDR4 2666

PSU: XFX XPS 600W

Monitor: some Acer FHD monnitor (using HDMI)

When using only the iGPU (no dGPU installed), everything works as expected.

Whenever I install my dGPU (XFX RX590), the PC will go into some kind of sleep state after a while. You could say it "plays dead" 😆

It becomes unresponsive (won't wake when moving the mouse or using the keyboard) and can no longer be reached remotely (using some kind of VNC-like).

The RGB lightning seem to indicate that the PC is still ON though.

Only a hard reboot will allow to get back to windows.

I tried swapping the dGPU for another unit of the same model that works well in another PC. The problem remains with this PC (meaning the dGPU unit seems OK).

If this is a settings issue, I cannot find what setting I need to change.

If this is some compatibility issue, I don't know how to troubleshoot it.

Do you have any advice for me?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best,

-a-

(* I had the same issue when running Win10pro. I recently upgraded to Win11 to see if it would fix the issue. It didn't)

Had similiar problems, turned out my PSU didn't support deep sleep. New PSU and everything works flawlessly

Thanks a lot but I disabled sleep, hibernation, hybrid sleep, etc...

In addition, I don't understand how this problem would appear when using a dGPU but not when using the iGPU if the culprit is the PSU. Right?

Or maybe the PSU is not powerful enough (less power required when the dGPU is absent)?

The PC doesn't shutdown (fans and RGB are still running) and this happens when it's idle (not during heavy use of the dGPU)...
