I'm wanting to build a pc with as many little fans in it as I can manage, I'd like to know how I would go about this? Can I daisychain my splitters? How many can I realistically get Into a case without it exploding?  I want to build the biggest wiring nightmare possible

We need a little more info, like what fans you're trying to use and what components you're planning on using with them. Odds are you'll need fan hubs as the standard desktop fan headers can only safely provide 1A of power, and most fans pull somewhere around 0.3A of current at full tilt (some do more, some do less), so it's only safe to run 3 of them at a time.

You could use sata/molex powered fan hubs to remove the 1A per header limit.

see linked for something on Amazon, plenty more like this.

I'm thinking on using

ASUS TUF Gaming B760-PLUS WiFi

Some random low cost cpu

And Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ for a psu.

And as many AC Infinity MULTIFAN S5's I can fit in a case.

My PC building knowledge is limited to 'it fits in the hole' and 'it turns on' lol

All of their fans that I've seen, including the one you listed, use listed, so you would need an AC- powered (AC power, not the brand) USB hub.

If you don't use those 80mm ACs, what size do you want? If you want lots of wires, here are my suggestions:

  • Buy all RGB and/or ARGB fans as they have double the wiring of plain fans.
  • Use daisy-chainable fans with Molex D plugs if you don't care that you won't be able to control them and they'll always run at max speed unless you buy fan controllers. You can have a pretty long chain of Molex D connectors.
  • If you DO care, buy fan controllers. Want more mess? Buy multiple, smaller FCs and put them in as many different places as you can.
  • Use extension cables to increase the mess.
  • If your goal is to make a lot of noise, the smaller the fans, the noisier they will be. Otherwise, choose 120mm or larger fans that don't have high RPM and dBA.
  • If power consumption, and the power bill, are a factor, look for fans that use more/ less power.  Don't look at volts. Look at watts and amps.
  • If price is an issue, 120mm fans can be had for under $10 each, such as Antec and Arctic, plus several others that I don't recall but can look up in my inventory. Bulk packs will cost less per fan.
  • Another way to save money is buying Molex or 2- or 3-pin fans. Now that 2-pin also run at max speed.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
