Hello everyone,

I just upgraded my old 1080 to a 7800xt. PC runs just fine in every game I tested, however in CoD i only get 100-110 fps with everything on low (1440p). The game runs just fine but I ve seen people run the same game with 220+ fps. I have a 3700x which is not the latest CPU but I didn't expect it to bottleneck the system that hard. The CPU runs at 50-60% utilization whenever Im playing. Nothing is overheating and nothing is working at 100%.

Complete set up:

CPU: AMD RYZEN 3700X

GPU: 7800XT POWERCOLOR RED DEVIL

RAM: 2X 8 GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 3600 mhz

MOBO:  B450-GAMING-PRO-CARBON-AC

SAMSUNG SSD 860 EVO 1 TB

PSU: CORSAIR RM750.

I run the CoD benchmark and it gives me a reading of 99% CPU bottleneck and 1% GPU. Is there any way of improving the situation or the only way to fix this is by getting a better CPU?

Thank you in advance.

Overclocking the CPU will help some, but in general your CPU is just kind of weak for what this game desires. As mentioned above, 5800X3D is your best option without a new board/RAM replacement set.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I was considering getting a 7600x but that would cost me 280 for the cpu, 200 for a mobo and 100 for ddr5 ram sticks + shipping expenses. I think im gonna follow your advice and get the 5800x3d instead.  Thank you for the help

its a cpu bottleneck,  just because you don't see doesn't mean it isn't happening... check each core while playing (afterburner overlay) but even that can be tricky because you actually have to catch the spikes. either way it seems pretty obvious (that test u did outright told u too)

Which CoD do you play? Your CPU is rather overpowered for most CoD games.

It's your CPU. I upgraded from 3700X to 5600X and had MASSIVE gains in performance even with my old GTX 1070. The IPC uplift from Ryzen 3000 to 5000 series is just insane. Just get any Ryzen 5000 CPU and you should be fine. 5700X would give you the best bang for buck, but the 5800X3D will REALLY unlock your GPU's potential. Also on that CPU you might wanna bring the memory down to 3200MHz and manually se the infinity fabric to 1600MHz. Might eek out a bit more performance, but won't be anywhere near enough to utilize that new GPU.
