Hi

I have a pc with the following specs:

Ryzen 5 1600af

Rx580 rog strix

B450 aorus elite

16gb Kingston fury

BeQuiet system power 9 600w

And the graphics card is in vertical mode via phanteks pcie 3 riser cable .

Lastly I bought an rtx3070 as an upgrade

And I'm waiting for it to arrive but my question is

Will there be a problem if I plug the pcie 4 rtx 3070 into a pcie 3 riser cable and motherboard? I know that if I plug it directly into the pcie 3 motherboard it won't be really a problem but what is with the riser cable. Here's how it'll go

Pcie4 rtx----pcie3 riser cable-----pcie3 mobo.

So will there be a problem with the performance or the temperatures?

Thanks

It'll probably work, but best thing in this situation is to set the slot to pcie 3 in BIOS

What do you mean?

The newer the pcie generation the more sketchy the signalling can become , you might find it won't work on pcie 4.0 but motherboards generally let you set the pcie version lower which in your case is fine because you will allready be limited by pcie 3 anyways.
