Posted September 28, 2023 I saw a used 3070 on eBay for around $260 USD, but it is a blower card (think Vega 64). I have heard that cards like that are a bit lacking when it comes to thermals, so would tearing apart and replacing the thermal pads and repasting the card be worth the risk? I really hate chemistry. Posted September 28, 2023 Not worth it at all having a blower-cooled GPU in my opinion. Usually they are noticeably louder than dual or triple fan. Repasting might lower couple of degrees the temps, but probably not enough to make a radical difference. If so, do it now, if not, wait until it is necessary then risk it. Posted September 28, 2023 it's not a bad idea, making sure that the heatsink is clean and fresh thermal paste is better than what you would have on it. you don't have to listen to all the people saying those cards are bad, just make sure your price is better than any non-blower card you can get your paws on. like linus says: there is no bad product, there is only badly priced products Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
