display ASUS PB287Q Monitor Question

I have a PB287Q monitor that is capable of reaching 4K 60hz over DP 1.2. 
 

the monitor ALSO has HDMI 1.4 but I’m only able to get 1080p or 1440p both at 60hz out of my XBOX Series X. 
 

my question is this: 

if I get a higher end HDMI TO DP 1.2 converter can I get 1080p 120hz made available to me on my XBOX series x SINCE the monitor supports 4K 60hz on DP 1.2. (DP 1.2 supports 1080p 120hz technically but that doesn’t explicitly mean the monitor’s display or internal components support it, right? I feel like if it can do 4K 60 it should be able to reach 1080p 120hz)

 

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m trying to figure out if I can avoid wasting money on a cable if this will not work.
