Ok, as you may noticed from the title i am a new builder and i want to buy a pc.
My main concern is gaming (since i am 15 and all), but a friend of mine suggested that i put an i7 4770k instead of the i5 4670k (which i thought would be the best choice for gaming right now) so that we can work on projects together.

MY QUESTION IS: weather i should buy an i7 to work on adobe programs like Photoshop, after effects etc. OR INSTEAD buy the i5. Will the i5's power be enough for editing programs? Keep in mind that i am not an expert and my work might need light to medium CPU usage.

PC Specs:

CPU: ?
GPU: GigabyteGtx 780
RAM: Corsair pro16gb
MOBO: MSI gaming g45
CPU: Corsair Cooler:H80i
PSU: Corsair RM Series 850watt
SSD: Samsung 840 evo 120gb
HDD: WD Caviar Black
Case: NZXT H440
Peripherals: I will not be buying any, i will use the ones that i am using right now
Monitor: One year old monitor i think it is 1080p (planing on upgrading to a 1080p 60 or more Hz)

P.S. i am not interested in amd Cpus
Thank you for your time!
(Also sorry for any vocab or grammar mistakes)

The build budget is 1700$

a i5-4670k will be plenty, if you would like the extra "umph" then you can go for the i7, but it is not necessary.

Are you planning to SLI in the future?  You could go with a less expensive PSU, 550+ for a single CPU/GPU.  Also, if you are going for water cooling, go for a full 240mm radiator, the H80i isn't a good price to performance cooler, you would be better off with air cooling at its price point.  The H100i is a more popular 240mm radiator.

Unless you're editing pretty frequently, the i5 should be plenty for what you need.

How about creating a button that is embedded so it becomes more seamless.

A button for tagging?

A button for tagging?

Yes, sometimes when I type in "@xxxxxx" it won't tag them.  And I would like to forgo having to quote people to respond because it does create a wall of text, but the accuracy of the "@" especially when someone has spaces or non-alphabetical characters in their name is not 100%, while quoting is.

Copy and paste their name? --That's what I do for strange names with spaces and whatnot.

Even then, if someone has a space or uses non-letters in their name, the "@" doesn't always pick it up.  Also, this takes more time, I know how lazy this will sound, but quoting someone is so much simpler and quicker.  An integrated button to tag someone without coping a massive wall of text would be nice.

Yes i am planing on doing and sli and also will the rm 850 be enough to power a pump if i want to watercool my processor and the GPUs?

Hello and welcome to the forum. What's your budget?

I edited my question, it will be 1700$

Defenetively buy the i7 for the extra 3d support

I don't know if i am going to use 3D modeling i have never used any adobe or "Photoshop like" program before, so i do not know if i need the extra 3D support

Is there another way to answer your questions or comments?

again thank you guys!!

well I say pick up the i5. you won't be needing the i7's power for hte programs you use until the time it will be your occupation or something.

and by the time you might want the power of the i7 there might be broad well or even skylake or whatever comes after that.

and yes your rm850 is plenty enough of power.

check out my render rig it has a seasonic x-760 80plus gold (760w just in case you didn't know). after checking my wall I hardly even go near max. considering I didn't go nuts in overclocking. just some standard clocks.

Live your life like a dream.

@kostasJ

For SLI, 850W is more than enough.  I am not sure about water pumps though as I have no experience with that kind of water cooling.  Hopefully someone else can help you out.  Or you can look at JayzTwoCents youtube channel, he seems to be an avid watercooling fanatic.

The psu is more than enough. Unless you're overvolting the gpus pushing really high oc's, the rm750 should already be plenty.

Yeah get the i5, as you've never used photoshop before I doubt you will be using it alot, the i5 will be plenty for all current games, however if you think you will be doing alot of photoshop stuff, adobe stuff blah blah blah, get the i7.

ANOTHER QUESTION: should i use the H100i for the cpu cooler? or should i go with air cooling? I really like the H100i since it will keep my cpu cooled and it won't get in my way when i want, for example clean my pc, or something, like what would happen with a huge air cooler. What do you guys think? If you have any suggestion about some cpu coolers let me know :)

@WoodenMarker thanks for the tip... But i am worried about the power that the pump will need when i will water cool these gpus and cpu :/

The pump shouldn't draw much power at all.

I don't see the point of getting such an expensive cooler that's also quite loud.

I'd suggest taking a look at the NH-u14s for a somewhat slim but still powerful and quiet cooler.
