For my next build I'm going to use a nzxt h1 and want to just use a thunderbolt dock with my display out through the dock, will there be any issues or will I still have to plug them into the GPU and run it that way

Edit: will be using Manjaro KDE as my distro/de of choice

Ok, thanks for the input I will do that

Is it that there is no driver for it? The mobo I chose has hdmi/dp inputs

Doesn't matter on desktop the only display signal a thunderbolt port MIGHT carry is the igpu's. Not the dedicated gpu as desktop thunderbolt is NOT AT ALL the same as laptop thunderbolt.

Also your board shouldn't have display inputs. Something is weird what board is that?

MSI meg z690 unify mini itx mother board, the Asus proart line have some with that feature too, it takes mini dp in on MSI board, the Asus boards are atx so it's full size displayport for them

If the board has DP-input, then you should be able to use a DP to (mini-)DP cable to connect the GPU to the mobo, then use a TB cable to connect that to the monitor (or dock)

Very wrong.

My ProArt boards support 2 display in from GPU.

Hey thanks to all for the input, I will try both passthrough and direct from GPU, it seems like it is possible on linux and if not it's not a deal breaker, just trying to not have to tip the PC over to access the I/O.

With a bit of research on my end it seems like I can do it with a bit of tty/command line work.

Sorry if anything was unclear, I will do better with phrasing questions
