isn't the total vram 1 gb here. Each of the chip is 0.5gb vram. could there be more ram underneath.

The official dell site changed the gpu to m440 with 2gb so, my after installing driver laptop shows 2gb which i doubt even exists. I installed driver for m340 with 1gb. I just want to be sure.

You might want to provide more details about the hardware in question. Which laptop model is that?

 

Maybe use GPU-Z to check which type of GPU it detects and how much VRAM it has.

Low end crapshoots like those gpu's often have VERY loose memory limits so entirely possible
