2 Build Plans In One!

Hey guys, this is my planning build log for two builds, my rigs full upgrade build and a rig for my mums workstation, TAKE NOTE THAT THE BUILDS WILL TAKE PLACE CLOSE TO CHRISTMAS OR WELL BEFORE (SEE MY RIG PLAN BELOW FOR ONE REASON WHY) AND DUE TO WE ARE GUTTING AND RENOVATING AND BUILDING THE DOWNSTAIRS OVER THE SUMMER!!

Location: The UK :mellow:

MY UPGRADE RIG BUILD

Budget- CANNOT AFFORD INTEL EXTREME!!!

Aim: Game Development (Moblie atm...with forsight to indie console), Single Player gaming mostly, Sims, Fallout, Skyrim etc, Internet, Video and audio editing (obviously for trailers etc)

Monitors: Well only got one in my room............37inch Plasma....more like a radiator :blink:

Peripherals: None needed

Why am I upgrading? The FX-8120 is struggling with the game dev stuff, newer and better features i can use on the new Z97 boards like thunderbolt etc

Parts List Soo Far:

Mobo- Sabertooth Z97 Mk1 (NEW)

CPU- Intel i7 4790k (NEW)

RAM- Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866mhz CL9 16gb (NEW-undecided on colour, needs to fit well with the mobo)

SSD- Kingston HyperX 120gb (NEW-Currently £54.99 @Dabs.com, Plus my OS and all programs come to 100gb so wil fit nicely)

HDD- WD Caviar Red 1tb (NEW)

PSU- Corsir HX-850 (Current/Re-use) or EVGA Supernova G2 850 (New- just for the modularity of it, but depends on what new case i get, plus wouldnt have to buy it myself)

CPU AIO- 3 choices(or similar)(NOTE ONES OF THESE I MAY ASK FOR, FOR CHRISTMAS):

NZXT Kraken X60

Coolermaster Nepton 280L

Corsair H105

GPU- EVGA GTX-770 SC W/ACX (Current/ Re-use- probs get 2 in SLI eventually after this upgrade)

Optical- 5" BluRay (Current/Re-use)

Fan Controller (Optional)- any nice 5" one, screen or dials, doesnt bother me

Lighting- if case doesnt have ambiet lighting, NZXT HUE or similar

Fans- Areocool Shark Devil Red LED x2 120mm and x3 140mm (Current/ Re-use)

Case- (Now this is where im undecided and will also affect to when i do this build and the other build as both have to be done together) Really the specs i would like are, similar size to my Storm Trooper (It has its restrictions in places before anyone asks why)

Short List soo far is based on whats out there now (pre computex 2014, wanna see if any bring out or announce new cases for this year):

NZXT Phantoms 820 or 630

Phanteks Enthoo Primo Rev.2 or Luxe <(Currently waiting for the release and the reviews)

(^^^^^^ Love the fact that you can almost fully disassemble them for modding/painting etc, and with the Primo, the PSU is hidden!)

(Edit: After much thinking, I am more inclined to go with the Enthoo Primo!)

MY MUMS DESKTOP (ITS HER CHRISTMAS PRESENT.....SHHHHH )

Aim: Internet, Office, Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro.....shes starting a custom cake business....

Monitor- Err currently got some 19" Samsung LCD...will do her for now!

​Peripherals- ill sort that no need to worry

Why?- She had a lovley HP Compaq laptop but at the end of 2011, it died, the GPU chip melted....(It was a AMD)...and a common fault on those laptops, so around April/May 2012 i built my first PC for myself (Note first for myself!!) and gave my laptop to her, but now thats pretty old (got it in 2007...Pentium Core 2 Duo, 2gb RAM ), and is becoming slow, and is frustrating her.....so here i am to the rescue again!

Budget- THIS ONE HAS A TIGHT BUDGET, Its complicated but ill explain, my step dad is paying for it but as im 23 i should be putting into it aswell, but im unemployed (Which is the reason why im doing the mobile game dev/future indie console dev, also have the skills to go self employed builder),but back on topic, for the new parts based on what i have chosen is £233.85, lower is better (compromise would be the psu), and my step dad was intent that he wanted to give me money for my parts, so i added it up etc. all together came to £242, so i said £150 that way im paying into it aswell.

Parts List Soo far:

RE-USED PARTS (More than adequate for her needs):

Mobo- Sabertooth 990FX (MY CURRENT)

CPU- FX-8120 (MY CURRENT)

RAM- G-skill Ripjaws X (MY CURRENT)

GPU- EVGA GTX-550ti 2gb (MY OLD)

CPU Cooler- Ximagtek Ageir (MY CURRENT)

NEW PARTS:

Case- Coolermaster 693

Optical- Samsung SH-224DB DVD RW (SHE DOESNT NEED BLURAY YET!)

HDD: Got that sorted, no need to worry

PSU: Sorted Already Would be the same as mine new or current or 750w variant

So that's it really!

Well this is the planning section not the actual build log, and it does say before aswell, am only waiting for Computex to see if theres any new cases of versions of the cases above to come out and also waiting for the 4970K! An yeah some things may change, whole part of the planning! Budget wise for both wont change tho!

Just purchased the Enthoo Primo Rev.2 from Scan for a bargin £179 plus free delivery on entire order! So got the CM 693 as well while i was at it! Gonna be like Xmas tomorrow!
