Task manager is broken... 100% cpu usage all the time

Go to solution Solved by Aramir,

And the answer was the "High performance plan" setting in power plan.... Wtf... Using the "AMD Ryzen High Performance" one (which strangely sets minimal cpu performance to 99% and max one to 100%) fixes everything.

I recently noticed that task manager always indicates that my cpu is sitting at 100% usage. Despites having no lag whatsoever, no problems, the processor not heating up, the cpu fan not spinning that much, etc.... So basically every indicator is all green except for the official microsoft one. And when using a "proper task manager" like Process Hacker I get results more in line with what I except.

So my
question is, did anyone noticed similar results recently ? Did microsoft messed up again ?

Check with mai afterburner, openhardwaremonitor,...

Also do a cinebench.

This could be an error or something else.

Uninstall Avast and use Windows security instead.

Agreed. Stay well clear of 3rd party tools for AV stuff.

Probably. If its a pain then try a fresh install of Windows and see if the problem goes away.

Check CPU power draw and usage with HwInfo to see whether it actually is under load. Could be some piece of malware that manages to hide itself from task monitoring tools.

Here's somecinebench multicore scores. Don't know what to make of it sincerely. It seems fine to me considering I've got some work stuff running in the background that I can't turn off mid-day :p. I can clearly hear the fan kicks off during the test.

Not the subject here. But avast did save my ass a couple of times where defender didn't. Yes their monetization system sucks, yes they've done dodgy stuff with customer data. No I don't care right now, no it never caused any issue with my system or degraged my performances significantly. I might switch later on for my next install and see for myself. That's it, end of the debate on that subject for me.

Everything looks fine to me 😕, that's the weird part.
