Best 780 ti?

Go to solution Solved by VSG,

Not a reference cooler, and I'm going to be air cooling. I've never built a computer before so I don't know what overvolting means.

Nothing wrong with that! I started my first build less than 5 months ago and I know a lot more now.

I would recommend getting the least expensive non-reference cooler you can find. If there are multiple cards at the same price point, look for warranty and customer service experiences of other people in your country. Typically EVGA and Gigabyte are great, followed by MSI, Galaxy etc.

I plan on building a really high end pc for 1440p gaming, using the 780 ti. Which manufacturer is the best choice? I'm looking for good overclocking and for it to be quiet. Lately I've been looking at the evga classified and the msi. Help me choose! Give me other suggestions if you think another one is better too!

kIngpIn from EVGA for sure, or their Superclocked, MSI Gaming, or ASUS RoG

I can attest to the MSi being very good. Came out of the box at 1111mhz Boost and overclocked it without voltage change to 1250mhz (on air). Ive also talked with a couple other people that have had similar results. The cooler is brilliant. Much quieter than the Asus card i had a while ago..

Havent actually used the EVGA card but if you live in the US Their customer support is supposed to be fantastic. Although in the UK its exactly the same as any other manufacturer.

Are you going to be on the stock cooler? Liquid cooling? Are you ok with BIOS flashing and overvolting?

If you don't overvolt you will have instability while overclocking...

Alright then, I'll probably go with the EVGA classified, because gigabyte cards tend to be loud. Thanks :)

Well be aware that the EVGA Classified won't show its best potential on air. It will still be a good performer though, but you need to judge if the extra you pay for the Classified over most other cards is worth it.

Kingpin costs too much :( Classified costs as much as the superclocked so classified or msi gaming?

i say go with the MSI Gaming, not because i like that lineup, because the TF4 Cooler proved to run around 5C° lower than the ACX Cooler, i know it sounds like margin, but it counts in terms of the Chip Life span

You can't just say 5 C lower without keeping constant the other two parameters- fan speed and noise. Also, a 5 C lower temperature on the core won't do anything noticeable to enhance the life span before you will upgrade the card (provided both are below the max recommended limit of course).

Would the regular 3gb EVGA classy handle the likes of bf4 at 1440p 144fps on ultra? Quite fancy one of those Asus 144hz 1440p monitors.

Was planning on using step up to get the 6gb ti but a lot of people have been in tears saying "the 780ti isn't good enough for 6gb".

i son't need to say it, the Propeller Blade Fans are known to be as silent as it gets, and at 100% they push in more airflow then any other fans(but from Asus RoG Coolers)
