First PC Gaming Build

Go to solution Solved by Dr0idGh0sT,

This is a pretty bad list for how much it costs.

Also 4060 ti is worse than garbage, don't waste your money.

You are also overpaying on a cooler.

This is a good list for now, but waiting for 7800XT might be better idea.

Budget (including currency): The budget is $1600 – 2000 CA. The range is because I want my price to be around $1600, but I understand if the price needs to be higher to fit my specifications, with the hard limit being $2000.

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Used primarily for gaming, with a higher emphasis on single-player games and graphically stunning games. But I enjoy playing FPS games and hope to try Valorant once I get the PC. Ideally, I want my PC to handle triple-A games for five years.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Monitors:

I currently plan on using my LG (29WL500) widescreen monitor, which supports 1080p videos, but I plan to upgrade it to 1440p.

Peripherals:

I have all the peripherals I need (I.e., keyboard, mouse, speakers) and have no plans to change them for now.

Why are you upgrading? And when?

This would be my first PC, and my current setup, a MacBook Pro (2018), is incapable of gaming. I plan on buying the parts in the next few days.

General Comments:

I want my PC to be highly reliable and long-lasting. I don't plan on overclocking. I don't care for an RGB aesthetic and prefer efficiency. I would like if the chassis included a mesh screen to prevent dust from entering. I used PCPartPicker to choose my parts, but I wonder whether I am over or understanding in places. I am also unsure if the case I decided on includes a mesh screen. I hope to have recommendations or advice on what I should do for my build.

Intel Core i7-12700K 3.6 GHz 12-Core Processor

Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler

Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL36

Memory Western Digital Black SN770 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

MSI VENTUS 3X OC GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB Video Card Corsair 4000D

Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case

Gigabyte UD750GM 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit

The total of this comes out to $1899.27 CAD, so I hope to reduce costs by cutting back in places where I might have overspent unnecessarily.

  • I wouldn't really bother with DDR5. Save the money and stick with DDR4.
  • The CPU you chose isn't the newest, so I hope it's priced accordingly.
  • 1TB of storage is going to disappear pretty fast if you play a lot of games. I'd get at least 2TB, or 1.5TB (500GB + 1TB).
  • I'd look at 3070 Tis or something similar if you're going with an 8GB card.
  • Check the PSU against the LTT PSU Tier List. Only get something in the top two categories.
  • Use PCPartPicker, it's an excellent resource.
