32"+ ultrawide for work

Hello, I got tasked with finding a 32-inch or more ultrawide screen for my aunt.. We do not care about the refresh rate and I wonder what resolution would be the best: 1440p vs 4k. I found this but this have "gaming" features that we do not really care about: LG Ultragear 34GP63A-B QHD

 

Do you guys have any suggestions? The budget would be around 600 cad.

What will it be used for?  Just normal web browsing or work?

Work from home, working on documents, forms and plans if I understood correctly, let me ask if there would also be a lot of browsing but I assume so for their work portal and things like that.

The LG Ultragear 34GP63A-B QHD is definitely aimed more towards gaming but I do think its a decent monitor overall, even for browsing and documents.  Its decently priced as well ( at least here in Norway ).  Great reviews on Amazon.  160hz IS smooth but if she is running a very bad computer, this resolution and framerate might be hard or impossible to reach.  You can of course run it at 60hz, just gotta set that in the settings in windows.  Any proffessional ultrawide will cost at least 3-4x as much so finding a 'gamer' monitor is probably the best bet.

For Ultrawide, the best in market now is 34" 1440p, 4K is unnecessary. 34" is equal to 27" Wide screen where 1440p do just fine.

This model using VA panel, it is not that good for working purposes due to poor viewing angle. I would suggest you pick one using IPS panel.

 

Even for gaming, I would also not getting this model as most VA panel have black smearing, ghosting and slow respond. Only 3 model from Samsung Odyssey Neo series using latest generation VA panel in mini-LED is good.

I would argue that unless you are a colourist, VA is more than good enough for productivity. You tend to find VA for a lot cheaper than IPS, and no point paying for the feature you don't need

Nope, the dirty screen is annoying, IPS is not paying a lot. 

 

Also the ghosting and black smearing also damn annoying.

Both IPS and VA can have DSE, also not every VA has a major smearing issue, especially the cheaper one that limit to 60hz. I brought my LG 32UK500 VA to be used at the office and it's actually has zero smearing for the typical web browsing and text editing workflow (while there are a lot more visible smearing on FV43U with 144hz)

Also the VA had bad viewing angle, if need to share screen, it is not good. 

 

My company had mistakenly buy some VA panel and nobody want to use as it just somehow not right to look at. 

 

I don't encourage to save the few dollar but suffer to the user.
