Ok...so for whatever reason steam is refusing to open. This isn't the first issue i've had with steam and its starting to really get on my nerves. Basically I tried to open Black Ops 2 and it wouldn't open. When I ended the task in task manager it kept opening itself again and crashing. I shutdown my PC hoping that it would all be OK when I turn my PC back on. It wasn't. Now steam just doesn't open. I click the icon on the taskbar and it looks like steam is going to open (windows 7 - icon changes to its "open" look), then it just goes back, as if I had never clicked steam.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I have 4 days off from work so I REALLY want to be playing games.

p.s. I have uninstalled then re-installed steam and its still not opening.

Yeah. Just contact Steam support. I honestly can't help you.

I found these solutions online.

BTW restart your computer and I would suggest uninstalling Steam completely and installing every game again, if you haven't done it already.

Computers are weird at times. I had an issue with uninstalling Java that was solved by resetting my router.

I have been having problems with steam also

First I kept getting the same april 1st update trying to install every time I turned on the machine or launched a game, until the april 25th update. It was just annoying, but it let me plat my games.

I'm 1000 plus hours into borderlands 2 and I started to wander what 1 was like because I skiped it.

I downloaded it off of steam and it wouldn't launch :(

I checked Steam website for that problem nothing fixed it, checked Gearbox and 2k's website but everything was so old it was for Xp.

Never got it to launch, I figured the hell with it I'm not as invested in first one because I never played it, I'll fix it later over time.

Went to play Borderlands 2 and it did the same thing(crash after the spash screen)

Got it to work again by deleting the appcach.exe file in steam rebooting and letting steam rebuild that file.

When I got into borderlands 2, that used to run above 45fps at 5910 x 1080 with everthing on now is unplayable.

Went 3 days not being able to get my gaming fix!!!

Steam support responded with an Email on what to try but none of it worked.....

Gearbox tech support responded a few hours later, never even heard of that problem I was having, but they would try to get back to me.

Than steam started acting all wonky on me, so I thought it had to be a problem with steam.

I backed up my saved games to the steam cloud and my desktop just in case , than I uninstalled steam, which took out all my games

Rebooted, reinstalled steam, reinstalled my games and everything was back to normal and  the original borderlands worked fine also.

Borderlands 2 now sits at the 60fps cap I set on it because of all the reinstalled drives and trying out the new Beta Nvidia drives, I was happy about that!!
