Thunderbolt display on mobo: Asrock Z790 PG-ITXTB4

I need help 🙂

Questions:

  1. Why is the display are not detected on my freshly builded PC with (Thunderbolt)?
  2. And I don't understand why its working on my laptop?

 

Story:

I build a new PC with a motherboard that supports Thunderbolt 4.
Sadly, the dock wont detect my monitor(s).

The same dock works on my laptop, which doesnt even thunderbolt support tb3 spec?
the 2 pc are in Windows 11.

 


Hardware Details:

  • Working laptop:
    • Lenovo Legion 5 17ACH6H plugged on rear USB-C 3.2 Gen 2. NOT EVEN TB3!!🫠
    • Dock: Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd500265)
    • Frimware up to date on lenovo dock.
  • Fresh build PC / not working:
    • Installed lastest thunderbolt driver on windows, 
    • Thunderbolt is active in BIOS
    • Board: Asrock Z790 PG-ITXTB4 (https://pg.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z790%20PG-ITXTB4/index.asp#Specification)
    • Processor: 13600k
    • GPU: RTX 3080

Thunderbolt / type c is such a mess haha...
