ryzen 5 3600 overheating

I got a new cpu and its shooting up to 80 and goes to 90 with max fan speed. Im using the stock cooler and thermal paste is mx4

What are you doing when it goes that high? Idle? gaming? Aida64 stresstest?

I have a case with 3 fans.  My 5600 is much cooler.

Just to confirm the forgetful things, you removed the plastic backing off the pre-applied thermal paste so it doesn't get smudged everywhere?

wait.... a damn second i didnt see any plastic thingy when i bought amd stealth cooler ima check that out

There isn't a plastic layer on the stock cooler over the paste.  It has an entire plastic cover, so you can't install with it on anyway, so no need to check.

idle is 50-60 and stress test 80-90

damn you did... what? Install the cooler with the plastic cover on it?

 

You can't, as this is the plastic cover protecting the paste...

when i do a stress test and my fan is at 100% i only feel cold air no hot air???

Where are you feeling this air?  Are you reaching into the PC or just the air exhausting out the back?

 

Maybe we need to remove your cooler and check the paste, or if it's even screwed down enough?  Could be messed up paste, bad contact, etc.

I have redone the paste 2 times, i screwed until it couldnt go further

Guess Ryzen stock cooler is better at informing people that there's a plastic cover by simply being big but there have been more indistinguishable cases of plastic covers on coolers.

Yes, similar to the one on my EK AIO.

 

I just recall the AMD one since I bought a new 5600 this past Saturday.

I will just buy a more powerful cooler and extra fan tomorrow hopefully that will fix it
