Remove am3 socket cover?

IMG_20230803_061228.thumb.jpg.cb8e8d3b859529f823222fe0de967979.jpg

Basically it was working just fine, dropped an fx 4100 and bent a few pins which i straightened with my fingernails, fx 4130 works just fine aswell, but when i went to put the fx 4100 back in it just 00 no post, pci debug card likes to bug out on this board so reseated and still 00, tried the 4130 and still 00, even waited for it to post but it didnt

I suspect some filth got into the pins since i needed to use a tiny bit of extra force on the 4100 since the pins werent fully straight (now it drops in as if nothing happened)

Yes the socket has been sprayed with 99% IPA and still 00 so now im gonna have to remove the socket cover to get rid of any debris

How do i go about removing an am3 socket cover? Only time ive ever done it was on a broken msi 970a and it desintegrated and broke into a buncha peices so id rather not have to buy another socket cover or buy a scrap board

to my knowledge it's not intended to be removed so it breaking from attempting it would be normal

They can be removed if you are careful but then again it's not really designed to be removed so the above that's quoted & bolded applies too.

This machine I'm using to post with right now had it's cover removed in an attempt to resolve a problem with it always thinking it has a new chip installed.
I tried what was suggested as a possible fix but nothing worked and after the board had sat for sometime off to the side I finally popped a socket cover off of an old/dead board and popped it in place on this board.

Dropped the chip in and had to press down with my fingers as I pushed the latch foward - It did engage the chip and push it into the goldfingers in the socket so after mounting the cooler it works.
If you are really lucky the cover will come off with ease AND you won't have to do that but it's normal because when you remove the cover it becomes distorted, it's the nature of the plastic it's made from so there is no getting around it.
