describe "large"?

are we talking 200 devices, or 2000 devices?

just around 50 devices at most but if there are that can handle more than 50 i'd like to check them out of curiosity. sorry forgot to include it above.

all the devices aren't connected at the same time but the ability to share the wifi is kinda frustrating me since with android they just have to scan a QR and with IOS they can view the password on their settings.

I forgot if it was my archer c7 or my TL WR840N but I could only put 30+ devices on the whitelist before getting an error that I've reached the limit.

get something from asus or linksys, they both put far too much horsepower in their routers to bother with silly limits like that.

Have you considered flashing OpenWRT on that C7 instead of buying a new router?

https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c7

Depending on which version of C7 you have, it could be straight forward:

Quote

For Archer C7 v1.1, v2, v2.1, v4, and v5 (fw1.0.11, fw1.2.0), installing OpenWrt is confirmed to work by simply uploading the OpenWrt firmware in the stock OEM's firmware-upgrade page.

Will look into this thank you. Will this increase the limit on the mac address filter?

AFAIK there is no limit on how many MAC addresses you can whitelist on OpenWRT.
Technically the only limiting factor would be memory... which is irrelevant for a small list like yours (be it 50 or 150 or 250 heh).
