A New Gaming PC Build (Under 1.5 - 1.7k $)

Hello, friends! (newbie here, lel)

Okay, so I'm posting for the very first time, and I want your suggestions and advices for my new gaming rig.

I'm going to build a PC next month in June,

My budget is from 1500 to 1700$

(I'm in India, so 1 USD = 60 INR)

The AIM/Purpose of this new PC is mainly for GAMES and my Game Art Designing course,

I've completed my High School and I am going for animation/game art designing now...

Here's what my wishlist says :-

Monitor :-  Dell S2240L 21.5 inch LED Backlit LCD Monitor

Dell%20S2440L.jpg

(or any other suggestions that are better for the same/similar price range, I was told this one was the best for my budget)

==============================================

Processor :-  Intel 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 4770K i7 Processor

==============================================

Motherboard :-

MSI Z87 Mpower Motherboard (No SP or Max, just MPower)

msi-z87-mpower-400x400-imadhtnfxqhpggpw.

or Asus Z87 Pro Motherboard

asus-z87-pro-400x400-imadmwsmgnavrff6.jp

(Suggestions please, which one to choose or to go with any other M/B that you think is better in this price)

==============================================

Graphics Card :-  ZOTAC GeForce GTX 770 AMP! Edition

zotac-geforce-gtx-770-amp-edition-400x40

(Will upgrade the card later or maybe will go SLI someday soon, but for now this is my choice, any other suggestion of the same price will be nice)

==============================================

PSU :-  Corsair RM750 750 Watts PSU

corsair-rm750-400x400-imadtkrq37cjtvhn.j

But am still not sure about the PSU, so I want your advice on this one.

==============================================

Cooling + Cabinet :-

Now, let me be honest here,

I don't know much about cooling and all, I mean I know a little about it but I'm confused, I think I'll go with

Cooler Master Hyper 212X Cooler

cooler-master-hyper-212x-400x400-imadhtn

But I still want your suggestions, is it important for me to go with some expensive one, like a liquid cooling system?

and what case will be fit for all of this, I don't want much expensive case, any mid ranged Corsair/Cooler Master/any other case will do just fine...

==============================================

The items I've mentioned above, its price in total is

93800 INR = 1580$ (without the Cabinet and cooling fans, just the Hyper 212X is included)

and if I add a good case with it (which you have to suggest me), it'll be 1700$

So, I want you guys to tell me what do you think of the items mentioned above, what to change, what to get instead of the ones above,

If these are okay, then suggest me a good case and some cooling fans,

or you can just tell me a whole new system build under 1700$ with your knowledge, that'll be better than this one!

Every single suggestion/advice of yours is welcome,

Thank you!

you can get a lower watt PSU. maybe a larger monitor or even one with a higher res for productivity. maybe go for a lower mobo if you want to allocate more money to other parts.

Looks fine so far other than the missing ram, case, and storage.

Where are you shopping?

I already have a 2TB Seagate Barracuda SV35 which is I think will be fine for some time, and I have 2x4 (8GB) DDR3 ram memory.

and about the case, lol I don't have any idea, maybe this?

Cooler Master CM 690 III Computer Case Cabinet

Edit : I buy online, site called Flipkart.com and Amazon.in

free shipping, and if I won't find them there, I'll contact my local retailer, he can order those products for me, but these are already available online.

Check out this build I did for someone else in India using the same online retailers, and also for graphic design and gaming.  If budget allows, definitely go for Intel over AMD.

Okay, so I have checked your suggested build, and I say I really like it,

So here are the changes am going to make :-

Motherboard of less price, like the one you suggested

or this one?

ASRock Z87 Killer Motherboard

Then I will change my PSU, the one you suggested, a 600w, will do just fine?

or this one?

Cooler Master Thunder 700 Watts PSU

now comes the GPU I will go for GTX 780 maybe...

then the case, I hope the Antec ONE S3 or something similar with that price will be okay?

then I'm fine...I'll reply again in a few hours, after applying the changes in my wishlist and then counting the totals.

Motherboard is all about what features it has that you need.  Whatever motherboard is less expensive that comes with the features you need is what you should get.

For PSU, you are going to want something that is at least 550W, and 80+ Bronze certified.  I highly recommend the CX600M, it is an extremely capable, and popular PSU that is also semi-modular which helps with cable management.  I own one myself and it is very good.

The Cooler Master is not a very good PSU company, and the Thunder is not 80+ Bronze certified, it is also not semi-modular.  I would not buy the cooler master.

The case is a really personal choice, you will have to select one that you like and fits your needs, and fits your components while remaining at budget.  The website I was using back when I did that build had a fairly limited selection of cases and I didn't spend a lot of time looking through the options.

Okay, so I've applied the changes and here it is now, does this look good enough?

10370600_639574169457639_659849247_n.jpg

Total : 83450 Rs. (1405$)

Without the Ram/Storage/Case

So, here's my other question, I have 8GB (2x4 Kingston DDR3 SDRAM) hope that's good enough? or do I have to change the ram too?

and for the storage, I have 2TB already,

Case : I'll look for it later, personally, as you said.

So it'll be around 1500 to 1600$ (almost)

You wont need to change the ram, but upgrading to 16GB should help you out a lot for the graphic and game design work you plan to do.  Make sure to buy the exact same RAM as your currently own.

Also, you are going to want an SSD to install your operating system on and to manage your C drive, it makes your computer so much faster.

I recommend gong with a different brand of 770, because the Zotac is more expensive for no reason.  The Asus GTX 770 is priced much better than the Zotac. I really think it is worth it to upgrade to the GTX 780, because it is only 5,000 Rs more than the Zotac. and you will get about 30% better performance.  Another option is the R9 290 often compared to the 780, which is only 33,500 Rs. and is very powerful for that price.

Okay Sir, I'm going for GTX 780 then.

and about the RAM : G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) PC RAM (F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL)

So, anyways, here's another n00b question, which I can not understand, what's up with the Asus GTX780 DC2OC

why is it like 10-20k cheaper than other 780s?

also that Zotac card is expensive because its an AMP! edition, normal one is available for 28k Rs.

I'm not sure what AMP! edition means, probably nothing.

I have done quiet a few builds for people in India, and I have found that Asus products are just a lot less expensive in India than in other parts of the world, you should be very happy about this because Asus is one of the better GPU companies.  Check out some reviews on the Asus 780, it is considered one of the best 780s because of its cooling capabilities and how quiet it is.

That is not very good quality RAM, you want to find some 1600/1866Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM. For just a little bit more money, here is some better RAM: G.Skill Sniper 1600Mhz.  What is wrong with the current RAM that you have?  It will be a lot less expensive to buy a 2nd set of 4GBx2 of what you currently have.

EDIT*  Even better RAM:  http://www.primeabgb.com/gskill-ripjawsx-f3-1866c9d-16gxm-ram.html

Great! thanks, am going for Gskill RipjawsX F3-1866C9D-16GXM RAM then...

So, you're sure everything will run good enough with 600W? I thought GTX780 requires 700-750W.

Yup!, 600W is more than enough.  I have an i5-4670k + 780 powered by a 600W, and I have both overclocked, lots of fans running, HDDs, SSD, USB chargers, etc..  600W is plenty.

Those companies are very conservative with their estimates of how much power is required and tell you to get a lot more than is actually necessary.

the g.skills ripjaws x 1866 cl9 is a good choice there my friend. 600w should be plenty. or those at 660w or 650 whichever one is available. if the asus 780 is so much cheaper than the ztoac one. go with it. zotac is a pretty good brand IMHO. but a cheaper asus is a fucking steal.

Live your life like a dream.

Okay, got it sir...

Asus GTX 780 it is then...

Will order it soon...

and do I need some extra cooling fans? I'm not having AC in my room and it is actually really hot out here in India right now (40-45°, that's normal here),

I don't want something to happen with my PC because of the temperature, my Zotac GTS 450 is crashing everytime in every game

Because it started heating too much, like 59-61° is the goddamn idle temperature of it now...so I can not play any game, not even Dota

I have to use my onboard Intel HD Graphics which doesn't give good fps in game obv.

I'm not really sure if it was because of the temperature here in environment, because that card stopped working in games even in winter,

So, I'm just waiting for the next month, a new gaming PC, just wanted to know if I'll be needing some cooling fans, if yes, what fan do you actually prefer?

I'm seeing a heck lot of fans on that page...haha, really confused.

Because of where you live, you are definitely going to be conscious of temperatures.

If you can, buy a nice big case for plenty of airflow and comes with dust filters.

You are not going to want to overclock your GPU until you are sure that the temperatures wont interfere, even then, I would be wary to overclock your GPU, luckily the Asus has a very well designed cooler with very large heat pipes.  Same with CPU, you will want to do a very small overclock, maybe 4.0-4.2.

Your components cannot be more cool than the ambient temperature, so you are starting off at a large disadvantage in terms of cooling.  When you first get your system, be sure to check temperatures and monitor them closely.

For case fans, one of the most powerful case fans I have ever come across is the Cooler Master SickleFlow.  This fan blows a ton of air, super strong fan.  But it is really loud, it is far and away the loudest fan in my system.  So loud that I am almost considering getting rid of it because it is so noisy.

I tried to find my favorite case fans, the Cougar Vortex PWMs, on primeabc, flipkart, and amazon.in, and I couldn't find it. If you can somehow find those Cougar Vortex PWMs, they are a really nice mix of powerful fan and quiet fan.

If you're saying SickleFlow's really good then its okay for me, I don't care about the noise so much, I'll be having some great headphones haha...

But again, I'll try to look for that Cougar Vortext PWM, lets see if I find them on some other sites.

So I'm looking at those RAM again, and wondering are they going to come in the way when I'll be installing the CPU Fan?

is that going to be a problem? do I have to choose any other CPU Fan? a liquid cooler maybe?

I forgot to mention that you need to quote someone so they can see that you have replied.

Having RAM that interferes with your CPU cooler is a possibility.  I cannot confirm this.  Try and search for hyper 212 EVO + the specific type of RAM that you bought.  Use the RAM's SKU: F3-1866C9D-16GXM So there is no confussion which type of RAM it is.

I couldn't find anything that tells me that these 2 things are gonna get fit together, but people out there are suggesting Corsair Vengeance RAMs with Hyper 212 EVO, so if those RAMs fit fine, then I guess I won't have any problem with G.Skill RipjawsX?

I don't think you will have a problem.  Worst case scenario, you have to return them.

Okay, About the SSD now, which one should I go for?

1. Samsung 840 Series 120 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (MZ-7TD120BW)

or

2. Corsair Force Series GS 128 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (CSSD-F128GBGS-BK)

or

3. ADATA Premier Pro 128 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (Premier Pro SP900/128GB)

or

Any other that you would suggest?
