do I need to use DisplayPort?

Honestly for computer monitor it is preferable. HDMI doesn't carry VESA VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) signals which is needed for AMD Freesync to work. HDMI ports on a GPU is more for compatibility, like connecting to a TV, Projector, or VR Headset.

I am human. I'm scared of the dark, and I get toothaches. My name is Frill. Don't pretend not to see me. I was born from the two of you.
