You would need to format the SSD using a tool like Rufus. You cannot just put the ISO on it, it has to be wiped and replaced with the contents of the ISO.

Thanks, but would I be able to reformat the ssd after so I can use it again like normal without causing any harm to the drive?

just off a USB drive with an ISO on it.. no, not like that.

if you unpack the ISO to the USB drive, it might work depending on the drive's formatting.

having that said, there's two exceptions:

1: there's usb drive enclosures for the express purpose of installing from ISO's, that show up as an optical drive to the system.

2: there's tools to make a usb drive bootable into a basic environment that'll let you select an ISO to boot from.. but their compatibility is not great, and it's a lot of fuss for a one-time thing.

yes.. but just "invest" in an 8 or 16GB flash drive.. they're like a few bucks these days.

Yeah I sounded like a bit of a hassle and I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks when I could just get a cheap usb. Thanks for the help 🙂
