Is ddr5 ram now only compatible with earth intel or AMD like motherboards

Hi, I was looking to buy ram for my new rig when I find (Corsair VENGEANCE CMK32GX5M2B6000C30) that says that it is intel XMP compatible, I haven't upgraded for a sum time, is ram now like motherboard only works with only intel or AMD or is just marketing nonsense, There are others like it that earth mention AMD or intel in the title, and I am really confused, if I buy the intel one will it not work with AMD CPUs. I want to get it for ryzen 9 7900x

it is nonsense. If your motherboard supports DDR5 ram, then you can any put DDR5 ram in it (support for Speeds and Timings will differ by motherboard though).

I might be experienced, but I'm human and I do make mistakes. Expand for common PC building advice, a short bio and a list of my components and other tech. I edit my messages after sending them alot, please refresh before posting your reply. Please try to be clear and specific, you'll get a better answer. Please remember to mark solutions once you have the information you need.

 

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

Marketing nonsense. What you're seeing is that they've checked it to make sure it works with AMD or Intel, so you feel like "OMG, this tweaked to be amazing with Intel!!!1121"

 

It's hype.  Like when the waitress smiles at you.  She wants you to feel good and order more and tip more.  She doesn't like you.

EXPO kits have been validated directly by AMD for compatibility with, at this point in time, Zen4 chips. They talk about this directly in GN's AMD labs tour from this past weekend. Its an open standard that anyone can use, but this soon after release, this is how its been. 

 

This is different to prior times where it was all XMP and some kits just labeled as "for AMD". That was indeed nonsense as it was all XMP.

Corsair is trying to confuse you about exactly this, as you are already.  Then you just grab theirs cuz it says it's AMD proven.
