Best CPU for Audio Production

I am trying to run build a CPU that will work well for audio production(specifically ableton live), and my goal is to have it run better than the top of the line macbook pro. what kind of CPU is best for accomplishing this task? Also, if anybody is familiar with audio production, can somebody direct me to a website that benchmarks audio production pc hardware?

I'm not really sure but if it anything like rendering then I'd say that you need threads mate so I'd look into the Core i7-4770K or if you have the money for it the Core i7-4930K

DESKTOP - Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H Processor - Intel Core i5-2500K @ Stock 1.135v Cooling - Cooler Master Hyper TX3 RAM - Kingston Hyper-X Fury White 4x4GB DDR3-1866 Graphics Card - MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning PSU - Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 850w  HDD -  WD Caviar  Blue 500GB (Boot Drive)  /  WD Scorpio Black 750GB (Games Storage) / WD Green 2TB (Main Storage) Case - Cooler Master 335U Elite OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

an i7 4770k will do the job fine seeing as the hyper threading will come in use. however, if your budget is higher, then you might wanna consider the 4930k or the 4820k

do you use an external audio interface ? As i believe it reduces the strain on the CPU

I do recommend an i7, the 4770k is more than enough, unless you're mixing a thousand effects on a thousand tracks at the same time
