CPU Upgrade Help.

So I recently bought a 4080. I was planning on upgrading CPU as well. I'm going from a 3900X to either a 5800X3D or 7800X3D.

Which would be the better pair or CPU. Also is the V-cache worth it?

The platform switch is not a issue as I have enough for the board and the kit of ram (dominators for AMD) I want (asus X670 TUF) just like my current. I've had good luck with the TUF boards.

My use case is streaming/gaming. Also everything would be on water/custom loop if that matters for this choice.

Obviously 7800X3D would pair better with 4080, but the real question should be whether it's worth the additional cost.

This depends on what games you play and in what resolution, then how much do you value your money.

I have more than enough money for right now. Not trying to waste it of course but for an upgraded GPU might as well do it all at once and get a good paired CPU while I have it.

I play current, (cyberpunk, resident evil 4 remake) upcoming, (starfield, stalker 2 remake) older as well (assassin's creed games in chronological order) most single player games and minecraft.

Res is ultrawide 1440

If your primary use is gaming, then the 3d vcache is absolutely worth if you play CPU limited titles ( or resolutions)

So like minecraft? I do play that occasionally. Mostly single player games like the above I mentioned. My resolution is ultrawide 3440x1440
