Is 100% Impossible to overclock a Xeon ?

Hi guys, for my rig I got a Xeon E3-1240 v2 and it was told to me that the Xeons are fully locked

You can actually overclock them. Wether or not you'll get very far is beyond me. You just increase the FSB. or Front side bus. Basically the Base clock.

You can OC the E5's, but, sadly not the E3's that much. Maybe +.1 or .2 GHz. It works the same as slightly OCing a i7-4770.

I budget build well. Want to learn? PM me if you want advice.

I oced my e3 1220v2 by ~ 200mhz, more isnt possible. You need to oc a xeon via the BCLK, multipliers are locked sadly.

You can overclock xeons, whether or not you can do this particular one is a different story.
