NVME drawbacks?

So NVME storage seems to have gotten pretty cheap now.

 

My PC has got a bit of an old mix of storage and i wanted to upgrade/simplify it.

I curenty have 120gb NVME boot drive

1tb and 2tb HDD storage.

None of it is full, i have just kept it because that was easier than transferring everything to one drive.

 

Is there any real drawback to me removing the lot and swapping in a 2tb NVME drive instead?

I have my eye on the Crucial P3 Plus 2tb

Few things, Gen 4 and Gen 5 drives definitely require cooling for the most part. The cheaper they are, the worse the technology is behind them, IE QLC vs TLC vs MLC etc for cell layer tech and DRAM vs non DRAM cache. Lots of things to consider.

Active or passive cooling?

Or does it depend entirely on the drive?

Passive is enough as long as you have airflow in the case.

It's slow, it's actually slower in mid, and heavier usage that a good PCIE 3.0 SSD NVMe.
