I recently ordered a new laptop that's CPU just destroys my old 8700k in my desktop and I was wondering if there were any affordable options that would let me Connect my 3070ti 8gb to it until i scrounge enough to upgrade my tower CPU. I upgraded to a 3070ti Last year but have recently been out doing more and wanted something with some more kick to take with me. my understanding is as it has not arrived yet is that it has got a 4060 8gb 140 watt GPU in the laptop so its not that far off in power from what i can tell. so if there is not a cheaper option I am going to just hold out for the around $800-$900 it would be to upgrade my main system. I would just use the PSU out of my main pc so if there is some sort of basic dock I could just set in my PC that would be ideal.
Laptop is a ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614JV-AS73 Core i7-13650HX, 16GB GeForce RTX 4060 Just have not been able to find more specific info on the GPU

Depending on how jank you want to go, the cheapest way would probably be an m.2 to PCIe adapter. You would be taking to bottom off your laptop every time and your GPU and PSU would just be sitting bare out on the desk. This would also limit your GPU to just 4 lanes which I'm not sure is enough for a 3070ti even at gen 4. But it would be cheap 😛

Otherwise external GPU enclosures tend to be expensive due to low volume sales. Not sure if there is an exception out there without making some sort of sacrifice.

thanks That Answers how the weird ones i found on amazon work but i could not figure out how an M.2 could connect the GPU did not even realize that was an option probably not worth it with so few lanes since there is not a giant gap between the 2 only roughly 22%. was just hoping there was some simple bare bones plug and play type thing I was missing Guess I will just start grabbling the pieces I need to upgrade to a 12 or 13 gen CPU at some point
