Swapping Asus Boards

Hi, i have an asus tuf gaming vg27wq and it does not support 1440p at 120hz on the series x, but the vg27wq1b does. That is the hole point of the 1b version, to access the 120hz ability to console. 

So do you think i can just swap the main boards and it will work?

So the Vesa refresh rate? Do i program the monitor or how do i do that?

Yeah it is the same panel, i could just buy the whole monitor with a cracked panel and change that. But either way i am going to risk damaging my only monitor...

What gpu?

Usually with nvidia/amd software you can set custom resolutions

Both is support overclock 165hz and no overclock 144hz. No different in both for refresh rate.

You can have 165hz and 144hz, what the reason you need 120hz.

If you really need 120hz, you can set custom resolution for it.

 

Beside this the no B version should perform better in HDR, at least it is the one get certified.

yeah hdr400 is bullshit and the custom options on xbox are very limited, 120 hz and 1440p is max the series x can output on hdmi 2.0. 

Oh and i do have a laptop for school so if i can program vesa refresh rates, that would be cool. 

The XBOX Series X only understands 120hz if the 120hz is the "real" Vesa refresh rate so 120.something something or 119. something something. I did find the exact refresh rates of the VG27WQ but not the Vesa ones, so there is one problem. If i could program it to the refresh rates the XBox finds, I would do that. Does anyone know if i can program the refresh rate of the monitor.

If it's the same panel then swap away.  Would be curious to see if it's more than just a firmware difference, because for someone with skill that could be cloned.
