What is better for streaming and performance the gtx 1080 ti vs the rtx 2070?

For streaming, the 2070 will be marginally better, thanks to its superior Nvenc encoder.

For gaming performance, the two cards are roughly the same, but the extra 3GB of VRAM on the 1080Ti might be of some benefit in newer titles. You will not have access to DLSS or ray tracing effects on the 1080Ti though, so if you want either of those you'll have to go with the 2070.

Raytracing was later enabled in some 10 series SKUs including the 1080ti.  It's available, but you won't be getting 60 FPS in titles unless you lower the resolution (or use dynamic resolution).

This post has been ninja-edited while you weren't looking.

I'm a used parts bottom feeder.  Your loss is my gain.

They don't want ray tracing. Just asking for how good they are at streaming

The 1080 ti is what I would go for. Performance about on par with a 3060 ti with more vram. No dlss tho but that shouldn't be a problem

1st gen dlss was pretty bad so I don't think you need it. if your playing at either 1080p or 1440p you won't need it. What games will you be playing?

I owned both. 1080 Ti is higher performing for raster games. 2070 gets you RTX and a slightly newer NVENC encoder.

Technically it functions but unusable slow in any game.

DLSS gen supported is determined by the software, not the hardware. It could be useful at 1440p upwards on the 2070.

Gaming system: R7 7800X3D, Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming Wifi, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB, Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB 6000C30, RTX 4070, MSI MPG A850G, Fractal Design North, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Productivity system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, 64GB ram (mixed), RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, random 1080p + 720p displays.
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

The rtx 2000 series utilises any dlss besides frame gen though.

The 2070 will be better for streaming.

The 1080ti has better performance compared to the 2070. (The 2070super is onpar or beats the 1080ti) but vram is going to be more important maybe not for 1080p but 1440p it will.

Personally I would suggest going with the 2070 though if you play at 1080p as dlss is nice to have. If you play at 1440p definitely go with the 1080ti. With the 1080ti you still get fsr which isn't as good quality as dlss but it's alright when it is fsr2

This all depends on pricing though. As you didn't list that.

thats a better card for gaming perf than the others. the streaming is a bit less good nvenc (nvidia) vs h.264(amd). its not much worse though. but the vram makes up for it. however i would say that it would be better to get a better cpu than the 3600 when you want to stream. but thats a personal opinion.

Honestly I would go with the 2070, the 1080 Ti whilst it is a pretty powerful card is long in the tooth and will be dropping support faster than the 20 series, it don't even have access to basic DLSS.

5800X3D Stock. 32GB RAM. RX 7900 XT. Arch Linux.

no it would hurt the perf of the 6700xt. what is your motherboard and budget?

My motherboard is a a520m-hvs (i know its bad). My budget is 450 euros. Is a 150 euro budget for a gpu and 300 euros for the rest okay?

its an alright budget board.

generally you would want 8c and 16t for streaming in my opinion. but for that price its going to get a bit difficult. you can get a 5600 but that only leaves you with about 310 euros dependend on where you live of course. if you can get a 1080ti for that price do it. unless you find a decent 6700 around that price then take that instead in my opinion.

im fairly certain your board does not support it. I would suggest sticking with a 5600 for now till you have the budget to upgrade again.
