Budget (including currency): Up to $2000 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Separate Streaming PC for use with OBS, VTube Studio, and Twitch Integrated Throwing System.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone, I'm looking to build a separate compact streaming PC for use while traveling.

Currently I use this pc for gaming and streaming with VTube Studio, Twitch Integrated Throwing System, and WaveLink VSTs, but have noticed that OBS has some serious lag/frame drops in certain titles, with the only remedy being to limit in-game FPS and drop quality settings through the floor. To resolve this, I think it would be ideal to completely remove the OBS strain from this PC.

The secondary PC would ideally be as small as possible, due to my traveling line of work (new state every 3 months, setup needs to fit in a sedan.) so Mini-ITX is ideal.

I've been arguing between buying a 5900x for $310 USD for the streaming PC, or buying a 5800x3D for the gaming PC and using the 5800x in the streaming PC.

Is a Ryzen 9 overkill? Is it better to use the CPU encoding vs. CUDA if I'm not gaming on the machine?

RTX Graphics cards are preferred for use with VTube Studio due to their Tensor cores being leveraged by the RTX tracking plugin.

Any advice and recommendations for cases, gpu picks, and more would be hugely appreciated. As well as any advice for the dual-pc workflow as I'm not entirely used to it.

A mATX build wouldn't make much sense imo when a full size ATX board would be handy for the extra PCI slots. Add this card to that build when it's released a few weeks from now along with an Elgato capture card.

Thanks for the reply and the time you took to pick out a list, I sincerely appreciate it.

It looks like NVENC encoding is still superior/easier on the hardware than H264 even without gaming on the machine simulatenously, so RTX is the way to go.

I made a parts list that I'd like some input on, 5900x is probably overkill so it's likely I'd swap for something like 5600x, just hard to know if there's any real uplift if NVENC is going to be doing most of the heavy lifting.

Double checked motherboard compatibility and with a 2 slot GPU, still has access to a 16x for use with internal capture card and the case fits into the smaller-ish side of things (after comparing volumes, it not not even be worth going for this as opposed to your recommendation.) Trying to fit your life into a hatchback every three months makes you value every inch of space though lol

The RTX 40XX series cards have a superior endcoder vs the 30XX cards. If you're going with an AM4 build then look at the 5700X.

While NVENC is superior in efficiency, when you have the privilege of x264, dont flunk it. But all of these would be IMMEDIATELY MOOT POINT the second that AV1 support is dropped on twitch, where itll beat both x264 and h.264 NVENC with ease in both quality and efficiency.

Bump up to 13700K and maybe 32GB of RAM if youre using steam, webcam tracking version of Vtube Studio. But that might not be necessary. Arc A380 shouldve been the cheapest card with AV1, but Intel drivers woes are still there and id thread gently, but if you have the technical knowhow and patience, it might be worth it to save 150$.
