I bought 32gb's of ram the other day and i removed the old 16gig kit. Could i add the 16 gig kit back in assuming it would be compatible because its a xpg kit and i got new corsair vengeance ram sticks. Both 3600mhz DDR 4. Different timings though. But if they did work together is it ok to have odd sizes of ram. Also i have a duel channel mobo.

Quad sticks works easy on Intel except for their DDR5 line but AMD is 50/50.

A duel channel mobo will cause them to fight, unlike a dual channel board where they'll work together 馃槈

Seriously though, it's ok to have an unusual RAM size. But different timings means the sticks will run at the highest common latency. Unless you really need more than 32 GB it might be a better idea to sell the old kit.

Whats the rest of your system?

It should theoretically work but doing it might cause instability if your memory controller or motherboard cant handle it properly so I wouldnt do it unless you really need the extra capacity.

My specs are as follows

I7 12700

asus prime b660m-a ac d4聽

3060 12gb

32GB corsair vengeance 3600mh

650w corsair psu

Peerless assassin 120 cooler

1tb nvme drive

I really don't need the extra ram so maybe i will just sell it like聽eigenvektor聽suggested聽
