An I being paranoid?

So today I started setting up an old dell desktop for folding and boinc (24/7)

I am currently worried about it overheating. Here's the cooling now

Is there any issues?

Specs:

Core 2 duo E6700

240gb WD

3gb ram

Some SCSI card (later uses)

And don't ask about the GeForce 210

And I also put the GeForce 210s heatsink on the psu

I'll post some better daylight pics tomorrow

Just keep an eye on the temps, it should be just fine.

It will be running with an open top as well btw

I doubt it will over heat, even if it does it will shut down to prevent damage

That's a very small CPU cooler though. It reminds me of the one on the reference GTX 750 Ti.

Yeah it has 2 heat pipes also.

When I opened it today I was caked with dust :)

Also, the fan was blowing hot air over some capacitors and was causing them to slightly bulge. Many people online said to reverse the fan, and I did, so will it affect performance?

Edit: wait the CPU heatsink is under a black plastic shroud with a white sticker with removal instructions. Were you looking at the chipset heatsink? This is a BTX motherboard so the layout is much more different

The fan in the center of the motherboard was a custom hdd fan, but since I mounted the hdd on top of the DVDs drive (with rubber feet to stop vibrations) I took the fan and attached it to the chipset heatsink. It actually does remove a lot of hot air!

it's kinda impossible to tell by looking at it considering we can't even see the actual cooling solution, and there are too many variables, all you can do is to run some kinda software to monitor the load temps, be it realtemp, speccy or something else, just checking it once should be sufficient to make the decision.

 

Edit: shit, i have been reading the title as "am i being paranoid?" all day long, did you edit it or or is my mental auto spelling correction just too strong?

How do you run the 210 without a heatsink?

That thing is dead.

I was testing to see if the card even showed up on device manager. It didnt

its fine, but use HWmonitor to be safe.
