.rar software?

Hi, I know this is a pretty basic question, any recomendations on a program that is good for opening those files(besides Winzip)? I´m on windows. I´d prefer if it was free.

I prefer bandizip to 7zip. Can't go wrong with either tbh.

I was using a trial version of WinZip before I discovered 7zip...my life is soooo much better.

7-zip is pretty good, I myself prefer WinRAR. 7-zip handles most compression algorithms and its own compression is good (LZMA). For free it would be my choice as well. The only downside is it will only decompress .rar files, you cannot compress (create) them.

I personally use PowerArchiver, it's a paying software, but it is VERY powerful, and will work with any file types, including ISO's, heck even Winamp skins among all things, and looks OK.

But for free, go with 7-zip.

Thanks! I will go with 7zip since I believe I won´t use it for demanding stuff.

I use winrar, and with a bit of file editing, I removed the trial expiration dialog that usually pops up.

You can't really go wrong with any of the popular options but I use 7zip because its completely free and one of the best.

I use Jzip....its based of 7zip but I find it easier to use. And I like that bright yellow icon.

I've been using WinRar pretty much every day for such a long time now that I really start feeling bad about never having paid for it.

I mean the first time I installed it from a 3.25 floppy lol
