Dual Monitor IGPU not working (HDMI - HDMI) (DP - HDMI adaptor not working)

Trying to go for a dual monitor setup using the Ryzen 5 5600g. I have an MSI b450 Mortar max motherboard and 2 HDMI monitors. The motherboard has only 2 displays, hdmi and dp. 

 

the HDMI output to HDMI input works, bought an adaptor for DP output to HDMI input but it doesn't work. 

I don;t know what seems to be the issue, is it the motherboard, adapter, or something else.

I checked the BIOS but it doesn't show something to enable multiple displays. 

Both monitors are 60hz.

Also read somewhere about bidirectional and unidirectional cables but I'm not sure if that's the case.
