I have (2x8) 16GB 4000Mhz CL18 DDR4 RAM and seem to always only have like 9/10GB available on Windows 11. Looking to upgrade by replacing current RAM as it’s overpriced to get another 2 sticks.

Only confusion I’m having is what is an actual upgrade other than size? Best bang for buck seems to be (2x16) 32GB 3600Mhz CL16.

Despite being slower with it being CL16 does it offset that? Is it better to go quad channel with (4x8) for a bit more money?

Any help appreciated.

Can we get some other platform details? What CPU are you running, what motherboard are you running, etc? All those do matter when trying to determine the best option for you. Also where are you shopping, as 3600 CL16 is usually fairly expensive for what it is and if would help to be able to give some price based recommendations.

I have had this problem in a previous pc and it is not because of the ram memory itself, but because of the arrangement of the memories in the slots that you have on your bace board, a good solution that I obtained was to put the ram in different positions to see in which mode the operating system required the least amount of this

Still it's a trial and error
good luck

Sure!

I have a 5600X CPU

My Motherboard is the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC

I’ve only looked at ebuyer so far which is a UK company. I’m surprised myself how cheap the options are considering the RAM I have now is still like £150 for 16GB. Here’s a link to the filtered results with the RAM specs:

Go on and try but even on 2 sticks its hard to boot Zen architecture at 4000MHz. Id go for 3200C16 if youre thinking of value.
