I want a solid 1440p/120fps capable pc

My thinking is that the tv going to be 1080/60 no matter what gpu/cpu combo I have, so upgrading that should give me the most bang for my buck right now. But all the options are a bit overwhelming and I don't know how to differentiate the good from bad. Any suggestions on that front would be much appreciated. I'm totally lost as far as the pc itself. Should I start building a new 12th-13th gen/am5 pc? Or would a drop-in cpu/gpu upgrade be okay for a few more years?

then just beeline to the biggest GPU you can buy. The 3600 can be a bit of a crutch on a certain game but honestly doable with maybe a light PBO tweak to alleviate some of the CPU bottleneck in CPU-bounded titles. 1440p especially at high framerate demands beefy GPU with a lot of VRAM, 12 at the minimum, 16 and above recommended.

I went for the newer 4060Ti on the gpu. You should definitely get a better screen too. A 144hz 1080p IPS panel monitor will definitely do that. I would hold off on trying to get a 1440p monitor until you have way more funds, and you upgrade the cpu, motherboard, and RAM later on. 🙂

Used 3060Ti or better would be a far better deal.

4060Ti is basically a 3060Ti with a slightly lower TDP.

From what I've seen so far, the 4060Ti actually does have better performance than the 3060Ti.

Higher settings, or same settings and higher FPS.
