Buffering on 4K Movies on non 4K devices and google chrome

My dedicated high end PC is a beast running gen 11 I7 - 32 gb ram - 2 * M.2 drives 3500 mbs - 6 WD nas drives raid drive - 10 gb link to commercial switch - GTX 3060TI GPU.

Stream any movies on plex app very nice - Streaming on nvidia TV shield very nice, stream 4k on phones tablets or web browsers it buffer’s, i have a look at task manager CPU is at 100% - GPU is at 100%. note these are like for like size from the disk - e.g. 100Gb on disk 100 gb MKV file.

I have just ordered a Samsung m.2 drive for windows with 7000 mbs and a second m.2 drive 5000 mbs for the 4K files.

Any ideas - the equipment is not that old help please

Do you have Plex Pass, and if so do you have hardware encoding enabled?

Likely a transcoding issue. Watching 4K on non 4K devices means it has to transcode it down to a lower resolution. My guess is that’s why usage is that high.
