Steam account hacked

Hey, recently i was scammed out of money as my steam account was hacked my some items  were illicitly purchased via my community marketplace at more than 200 times the ongoing market price. Additionally, almost all of the items in my inventory were sold leaving only a few cause i was able to gain access.

 I had not log into my account for months and even my steam guard app was uninstalled because i had just changed phones. 
obviously i didn’t get much from steam support.

So just a reminder for the readers to secure your accounts.

 

Also my google account did report some suspicious activity from a Windows device. I have already changed my password and reinstalled Windows completely and run antivirus scan before this event. And I didn’t pay attention to steam cause it’s password was not stored in my account, neither were any important ones.

Also, i would appreciate some tips to prevent this predicament agan.

One time my steam account got hacked and I got a notification that I was banned for 30 years when I logged into my account. Fortunately I was able to contact steam to get my password changed and prove that I have control of my account. This ban disallowed me from playing any of my games, messaging people, or using the marketplace.

 

I don’t really know what exact processes took place but they were able to confirm that I was definitely hacked and had regained control of my account. Once this was done my account was unbanned.

 

I later found out that while they didn’t steal any of my items or anything, the person that hacked me was begging people on my friends list for items to sell or a PayPal payment. This lead to me having a ton of people blocked that I was unaware were blocked as well as me being blocked by people that I hadn’t talked to in years otherwise.

 

 

I believe I got hacked because I logged into a csgo gambling and trading website with my steam info. Learned my lesson there.
