ryzen 7 5800xrd on msi mag b550 tomahawk with the latest bios

Gromitone

I see this as a win

Atleast just lock down the voltages and leave the multiplier unlocked so any of the enthusiasts can just use an evc2 to run higher volts while everyone else is just locked at 1.35v but can still do multiplier adjustments

welp no more bclk needed i guess and you can overclock normally

Well i have a b550 mortar, older BIOS, no crashes. Very brave of you to install a new BIOS, but now you also know why one shouldn't do that unless there are issues with the old one...

You can rollback bios

If the board doesnt allow rollback you can either use the bios flashback or the spi header with a bios programmer like the ch341a

I was reffering to the bug

I mean why lock the multiplier when you can just lock the voltage to max 1.35v? Its retarded af on amds part to lock the multi

As for op try rolling back your bios to the previous version you were using

yeah, i know, but sometimes it can be pretty involved... i was just saying thats the risks of updating without a real need.

yeah, i mean they probably wanted to be on the safe side... to me overclocking makes no sense though as in my experience undervolting gives way better results (and theoretically uses less power)

What i find annoying is that there are no PBO settings in BIOS - funny thing the original BIOS had PBO, but it did nothing on my 5800x3D...
