HELP ! My GTX 750 Ti started doing this !!!! Maybe I accidentally scratched a chip ?

Maximum_Power
Go to solution Solved by Humbug,

This brings back memories. All my geforce cards have put out artifacts like that before dying...

And I know how to dissemble GPU's, I dissembled my HD 6770 and it was fine. I also constantly ground myself

So do I, and so I know about PCs and the rest of the community here know a bunch alot.

You shouldn't disassemble a GPU unless you're putting a new air cooling or new watercooling block on it and you REALLY know what you're doing. What you did there buddy was not smart, and you shouldn't have taken off your GPU's cooling block at ALL. Hell, why did you even do it? Thermal overblow? what does that even mean? Whatever it is, it shouldn't have been done by you but by PNY, if it came too "hot", then you should have RMA'd the card since it was broken.

As far as I know what a GTX 750 Ti is, it doesn't tend to get that hot, unless you put a heater against it.

I laughed so hard, that my eyes are full of tears and then I could not get any air. Gosh, I had to take my asmaspray for the first time in weeks. I thought you posted a regular build video. Please put a warning on that video.

Check if both analog and digital outputs are like this.

I took apart my 7770 like 100 times (OK, 6 times-> experimenting with new thermal paste and the new cooler) and nothing happened. Next time DON't take it apart if you don't know what you are doing.

Here we have a classic case of "OP against everyone". Everybody above me told you that you messed up and even tried to help you try and trick companies into giving you a new one. Just chill a bit. Accept that you probably messed up a bit and try to get a new card. Don't rant at nvidia and everyone trying to help.

Just my two cents, like jayz. I'm punny.

But your best bet is to RMA it. Don't scratch the new one. If they say theres a scratch say that you never took the cooler off. Maybe they will believe you.

interesting...I recently had this problem... are you getting a VIDE_TDR_FAILURE at boot? or have you checked device manager and see an "error 43"

uhh just make sure the card is securely plugged in the slot and if the heatsink/fan seems heavy try to support it with something...

pretty much like what I did...since my heavy ass heatsink was dragging the GPU down on one side so I supported it with a piece of plywood (I didn't choose the ghetto life, the ghetto life chose me)

well your problem could obviously differ from mine, but I surely had the same stuff how up at my screen...

P.S. I know my case setup looks like shit...(for now)
P.P.S. I'm soon gonna get an antec one s3 as well as a GTX 750ti (is it a good upgrade from a GTS 450?)

The scratch is not visible. And today is mothers day, i'll have to wait for a few days like 3 or 4 because I need the box rofl. The card works fine in safe-mode lol, maybe I didn't even scratch the card, idk.... nvidia cards have problems but im not ranting

Nothing else. At all didn't physically modify it at all. This is why I wanted to stick with AMD. Hell, The PNY 750 Ti couldn't even handle the most little overclocking. I am going to go what I wanted with. an R9 270X or something else someone recommends. and one with a good backplate
