Greetings everyone,

I got myself 2 of Phanteks T30 because of the raving reviews and I can't for the life of me get them to run faster, they are basically running silent.

I got a Lenovo Legion Tower 5 using a Lenovo MoBo model "3753" running this horrible Bios "O5LKT22A" version, it has no fan curve options.

I have tried FanControl, SpeedFan and HWInfo and none of those detect the T30s

HEELPP PLEASE!

Nice fans are pretty silent, a lot cap out at or below 2000rpm so they'll never get very audible even at max rpm. T30s specifically only reach 2000rpm, rated at 27.3 dB (A), which seems to be around or slightly below the average volume of whispering. Unless you stick your ear inside your PC, they should be basically inaudible.

If the motherboard doesn't offer PWM fan control, you can get an external PWM controller with hardware buttons for RPM control. Or something software related like from Corsair.

Don't the fans have a selector switch to set speed anyway ??

Not for speed but PWM range, IIRC. Setting the max RPM of 1200, 2000 or 3000.

Thanks! guess I'll go with the external controller..cause ICUE doesn't see fans either.

That would only be if the fans built-in switch is still set to the middle setting (performance), which is the default, as it maxes out at 2,000 RPM. Hybrid mode maxes at 1,200 and advanced mode at 3,000.

Check the switch and make sure it is on performance or advanced. Otherwise, aside from the great advice from everyone, are you using a y-splitter?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Right, so because you don’t use your pc for intensive tasks, you can get away with a bunch of slow breathers.

Ahhhh. Thanks for the double check 👍. Checked the page again, they don't put that on the spec sheet, you have to scroll down to the image marketing blurb stuff where they explain it.

Nah. Your cooling setup dictates your fan speed. If your hardware has overkill coolers - or you're on appropriate watercooling - you can run fans at a very low rpm while absolutely blasting your hardware with 0 issues. I run my decently OCed 6950X (4.0, it'll do 4.2 but then does get hotter than I would like) + 2060 Super loop on a single 360 slim rad and can keep fans almost inaudible without having any problems cooling. More surface area = can run fans slower and get the same cooling perf as a smaller cooling setup with a freak amount of airflow. Both good solutions to the same problem, depending on whether you care about noise or not.

Games don’t blast hardware though. F@H, WCG, Rosetta are programs you can run that will test how good your cooling really is. I know my cooling is good, and I am not using insane fans.

That sort of testing is exactly what I mean by "blasting". With a proper cooling setup you can put your PC through the damn wringer and have it never make anything above a subtle whoosh (or slight coil buzz from the GPU, that's luck of the draw though). Loudness of the fans doesn't mean someone is or isn't using their PC for intensive tasks.

I'd prefer to run stock clocks, but I have a penchant for old HEDT that needs to be clocked up to run modern games well, so I haven't had a main PC run stock clocks in years. I think the last time was when I had an i5 8400 as a short-term stopgap before I got my X99 kit.
