Xbox controller not appearing in device manager (wired) Windows 10

So i was in the middle of playing Jedi survivor when the xbox controller i have just stopped working, went to device manger and don't even see it listed in there even after a scan for new hardware

 

I've tried a new cable, new port, running sfc /scannow, restarting, shutting down the PC, running windows updates

 

I can't connect via bluetooth as my PC doesn't have it built in

 

I'm stumped, i can't re-install teh driver as it doesn't appear in device manager to begin with

 

Edit: I've plugged the device into another machine and it didn't work. So it's broke; on the day the warranty expires to hmmm, rather sus
