merging audio signals

Go to solution Solved by Heats with Nvidia,

There are basically 2 ways to do this easy. Either you use a switch that has only one active position like a rotary switch, or you add a resistor in series to every input (10K Ohms should work) and build a passive mixer.

hey,

building a simple guitar pedal sized audio "merger" for some synths, with 2 pole on-off-on switches. 4 inputs, 1 output. main purpose to have 1 switch ON and 3 OFF to not have to rewire to use the effect chain.

this seems to work fine with the un-soldered test i made, but i mean i don't know shit...

1. when used with only 1 swtich ON, is it ok to just wire this without any other parts ?

2. maybe i want to have 2 or more switches ON at some points, is audio signal merging a problem? i know splitting isn't obviously, but no idea about merging. my guess would be to use diodes in that case? i still have lots of spare parts..

basically this ? https://electronics.stackexchange.com/a/136134

will this work with 4 inputs?

and as far as i understand, a rotary switch will work the same way as 4 2 pole switches if only 1 switch is ON.

thanks, will try it with resistors

Yes. 🙂 And you are welcome.
