M.2 SSD shows in bios but when I try to install Windows on it, windows doesn't recognize it

I just built a new PC and instead of buying a new SSD I just took an old one out of my old computer and I formated it and everything but no matter what I try windows won't recognize it.

The SSD is a WD blue sn570 1tb

Please help.

Not sure this is totally relevant, but maybe worth a perusal. (was going to dig into it and see before commenting, but I've run out of time so I can only throw it at you.)

This is correct, however to make addon to this, I wouldn't use the one from windows, and instead download the chipset driver from the your Motherboard vendor and extract the driver files to a USB drive, mount that during the Windows install and your drive should be found.

make sure raid isn't enabled in BIOS or you may need to manually download some drivers and put it on your install media as the others have mentioned.

 

I actually ran into this on one of my machines at home recently, not even sure why raid was enabled since it only had 1 drive in it. came that way when purchased.

The MBR vs GPT, and boot option for the installer in uefi (uefi/CSM)
